About Frölunda OL

Frölunda OL is an orienteering club with just under 400 members located at Sisjön in southern Gothenburg. We strive to be an orienteering club where everyone is welcome and to give everyone the opportunity to develop their skills of orienteering.

Most of our members live in southern or central parts of Gothenburg and Mölndal, such as Askim, Sisjön, Hovås, Frölunda, Högsbo, Majorna, Linnéstaden, Fiskebäck, Eklanda and central Mölndal.

Our activities

Youth

We are a club focusing on youth. Training takes place at least twice a week and we arrange a number of camps and trips to competitions every year.

Beginner courses

We arrange beginner courses for 8-12 year olds each spring, but also welcome older beginners on an ongoing basis.

Adults

Our adult members train orienteering during spring to fall and running, cross training, spinning and floorball during the winter. We also have veteran orienteering and popular Nordic walking training. Many of us compete on the weekends.

Trail running

All year round, we have a trail group that runs on trails in southern Gothenburg. Joyful pace and social interaction instead of hunting Strava segments. No requirement of orienteering skills needed.

Club trips

Every year we organize club trips to big competitions like 25manna and Tiomila. Sometimes we go abroad to run multi-day competitions.

Fellowship

We are a family-centric club that focuses on fellowship over elite activities. At major competitions like O-Ringen we always have common activities.

Events

Every year we organize at least one orienteering competition, usually in southern Gothenburg. In spring and autumn we organize our popular quiz walks at our clubhouse.

Our clubhouse

The base for our activities is the clubhouse just north of Sisjön. The street address is 603 Sisjövägen in Askim.

Highlights during the year

  • Sisjömästerskapet, our spring season finale with a team relay for all ages, bathing, grilling and an awards ceremony.
  • Swamp football with bathing, the start up of the fall season.
  • Capture the flag with headlamps. Usually in November.
  • Marsipangrisloppet, the fall season finale which is a competition that everybody could win.

Of all the orienteering competitions that are organized around Western Sweden, the Sommarlandssprinten inside Skara Sommarland and the O-Event inside Borås Zoo are a little extra spectacular.

The autumn’s 25manna, which takes place in Stockholm every year, together with spring’s Tiomila are two team relays that the club is happy to participate in. During the summer there are highlights such as Halland’s 3-days, O-Ringen and Ungdomens 10-mila to keep track of.

Recurring summer camps include GOF’s summer camp and O-Camp.
